How To Write a Landscaping Certifications and Licenses Page
When you are thinking about creating a landscaping certifications and license page, it can be tough to figure out what content you will put on that page.
You may wonder, “other than icons for each of your certifications and licenses, what is there to put?”
At Blue Trade Media, we have helped businesses create certification pages that not only show their expertise and credibility, but also communicate to customers what each of the certifications signify.
In this blog, we will cover how to write a landscaping certifications page and what type of information you can include on it to illustrate your credibility to your customers.
What Information To Include About Your Certifications
Before you create your landscaping certifications page, you should list out every certification your landscaping company has. Once you have done that, ask yourself the following questions about each certification:
Why did you get this certification or license?
How does having that certification make you more qualified to perform that type of work?
What did your company or individual team members learn from that license or certification that they use every day?
What was required to get that certification? (e.g. previous education, previous experience, X hours of coursework, etc.)
What is required to maintain that certification or license?
What does it show/mean if someone doesn't have that license or certification? (e.g. they haven’t invested in learning about their trade, they could have gotten their license revoked, they could be performing work illegally without the proper licensure, etc.)
Once you have answered each of these questions for each certification, you should create a section on your certifications page for each of your certifications/licenses.
Each accreditation should have a heading (usually just the certification name spelled out with the abbreviation at the end), the icon of the certification, and then a description of the license/certification. The description for each certification will contain the answers to the 6 questions above.
So what type of certifications should you include? That brings us to our next section.
Licenses and Accreditations To Include On Your Landscaping Certifications Page
The type of certifications and accreditations you will want to include on your landscaping certification page will depend on the area you provide landscaping services and the type of landscaping services you provide.
You will want to include certifications and licenses within categories like landscaping, contracting, and specialty services. By including your certifications from these categories on your certification page you will be able to separate yourself from other landscape companies.
For instance, some companies may only offer general landscaping services, but maybe you offer additional expertise in contracting or design.
Landscaping certifications
When thinking of what landscaping certifications you want to include in the landscaping certifications section of your certifications page, you can list accreditations like:
Certifications and licenses you will list will differ from state to state. If you have a state-specific landscaping license, you should list it exactly as your state labels the landscaping license.
By including the state-specific name, you will be able to give customers and Google a better idea of the areas you service.
General Contractor Certifications
While general contractor licenses aren’t applicable to every landscaping company, it is important that you list your general contractor related certifications if you plan on advertising to customers that you can install irrigation systems, lay down concrete, create retaining walls, or perform any other landscape adjacent services.
Some services you may want to include in your general contractor certifications section include:
This is not an exhaustive list, but is meant to give you an idea of the landscape adjacent types of licenses and certifications that are worth mentioning.
Specialty Certifications
The types of certifications you will list in your speciality certifications section is very nuanced. It will depend on whether you offer additional landscape services like landscape design or area-specific services like snow clearing.
Some examples of certifications you may list include:
When trying to come up with specialty certifications you should note, think about if you have gotten a certification to provide customers with a unique service that they can’t get from just any landscaper.
On the flip side, you may not have a specialty certification yet. That is perfectly fine. Just remember, if you ever diversify your certifications to expand your service offerings, add those certifications to your certifications page!
Blue Trade Media Tip: In addition to including your licenses, accreditations, and certifications on your certifications page, you should include your landscaping license number on your website, your business cards, your company vehicles, and your marketing.
Create a Landscaping Certification Page to Build Trust With Customers
Certifications pages are usually one of the most overlooked pages, but they can be a huge tool in building trust with your customers, especially if they have received bad landscaping services from an unlicensed company in the past.
The best way you can approach this page is to think of what you would want to know if you were a landscaping customer that wanted good service, but didn’t know how to evaluate a landscaping company’s expertise and accreditation.
