How To Write a Landscaping Location or City Page

You have probably heard you have to optimize your website for local search, but how do you do that exactly?

Location pages are a great and simple way to optimize your website locally and target specific cities that you service.

There are a few areas where no other landscaping company has created any city pages, making it the perfect opportunity for your website to easily show up when someone searches “Landscaping Services in City, State.”

In this article, we will go over what you should know about location pages and how to create them to get your landscaping company website to rank locally for your top service areas.

The Purpose of Landscaping Location Pages and What You Should Know

While your other landscaping website pages are useful, you want to increase ways your customers can get to those pages - and that is through location pages.

By creating location pages, you will increase the likelihood that you will receive more website traffic to your site when people are searching for landscaping services in your area.

Your location page will include details like:

  • High-level information about landscaping services in the target area

  • Links to services in bullet point format or paragraph format

  • A call to action paragraph that prompts them to call you for landscaping

  • A section highlighting reviews for that area or projects you have done

Location pages are a more effective way to hyper-focus on one location because you don't have to evenly distribute the attention you give to each of your service areas like you do with other pages.

You will generally create three or more location pages to increase the likelihood that your customers are able to find you. You will want each of these pages to have unique content so that search engines do not ding you for duplicate content.

The way you write city pages will kind of be like your landscaping homepage. However, your location pages will be more service-focused and will not include information like jobs or other company information, aside from high-level details.

4 Sections You Should Include in a City Page

1. High-Level Information About Landscaping Services in the Target Area

Before you get into the main content for your introductory paragraphs, you should think about how you would explain the services your company offers so you can create an accurate title for your page.

Your location page title will usually sound something like these:

  • “Landscaping Maintenance and Design Services in Cary, NC”

  • “Landscape Design and Maintenance in Cary, NC”

  • “Residential Lawn Care and Installation in Cary, NC”

Then you have another heading after that that positions you as a local or top landscaping company like:

  • “Trusted Landscaping Services in the Triangle”

  • “Quality Landscape Design Near The Triangle”

  • “Top Landscaping Services in and Around the Triangle”

To write the first few paragraphs of your location page, you should think about the pain points your customers may be experiencing with their landscape in that specific area. Is it an area that gets too much rain? Not enough rain? Or inconsistent rain?

Customers in specific areas may have other pain points less related to specific lawn care problems and more centered around HOA (homeowners association) requirements that require them to have a perfect yard.

In any case, these opening sentences and paragraphs should be all about what customers in that area commonly face, so you can set the tone for how you can help them.

When writing this section and the other content on your location page, you should try your best to not mention the city repeatedly and instead use it occasionally.

To speak about the area, but not keyword-stuff your page, you can refer to the popular neighborhoods you service in that area and other common names for the area (The Triangle, The Triad, etc.).

2. Links to Services in Bullet Point Format or Paragraph Format

Before you get straight into your services, you should introduce it with a sentence or two, such as:

“Are you looking for landscaping services near City, State? Learn more about our landscaping services:”

Once you have introduced your services, you can list them out as a bullet point list, like:

  • Landscaping Maintenance

  • Landscaping Installation

  • Landscaping Design

  • Landscape Supply

Or

Landscaping Maintenance Services: lawn maintenance, aeration & seeding, weed control, fertilizing, leaf removal, hedge & tree trimming, and irrigation.

Lawn Care Design and Installation Services: outdoor lighting design, land grading, drainage, and more.

If you offer additional services or a maintenance plan that you haven't mentioned in the first list, you can include information about those in the following paragraphs on your location page.

3. Call to Action Paragraph That Prompts Them To Call You for Landscaping

After the sections about your services, you can prompt customers to call you with a call to action sentence or paragraph, such as:

“To find out more about our Landscaping maintenance, design, and installation services, contact us today.”

Or

“Are you looking for landscaping maintenance or design services in the Raleigh area? Reach out to us today.”

4. Section Highlighting Reviews for That Area or Projects You Have Done

A way you can further optimize your landscaping location page is to add a reviews plug-in to your page. The reviews plug-in will allow you to have all of your reviews or city-specific reviews at the bottom of your page.

A popular review plug-in is NearbyNow, a review software that enables you to add reviews and check-ins to the bottom of your page.

This means that when your landscapers go to a customer's home, they can summarize the maintenance, the project, or any other details of the job, even if the customer hasn’t submitted a review yet.

If you do not have the ability to add a reviews plug-in, as an alternative, you can include information about your recent projects in that city. You could present this in the form of a sliding information section or as a grid of different projects with pictures and summaries.
