How To Create FAQs For A Contract Service Company

Do you want customers to find your website when they type in questions about services like yours in Google?

A great way to do this is to create FAQs (frequently asked questions) on your website.

If you don’t know what an FAQ is, check out our blog “What Are FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) for a Contract Service Business Website?”

We have worked with many businesses to add FAQs to their website to help them increase their leads.

Do you want to optimize your contract service business website to generate more leads? In this article we will walk through how to determine where to put FAQs on your website and ways you can come up with FAQ questions to cover.

Where To Place FAQs On Your Contract Service Business Website

Once you know that you want to add frequently asked questions to your website, you may wonder “where do I add them?” There are two common spots:

  1. On a Dedicated FAQ Page

  2. On Individual Service Pages

The spot you choose to place your FAQs is ultimately up to you. However, for the best results, we recommend that you place them on multiple service pages, as it will maximize your leads.

1. On a Dedicated FAQ Page

Adding FAQs to one dedicated page was very popular in the early 2000’s as SEO (search engine optimization) became a priority for business owners.

This was a quick and easy way to compile any questions their customers may have had and answer them in one spot. This is still not a bad method if you have non-service specific FAQs you want to provide the questions to.

However, if you want to increase the likelihood that customers will reach out to you for services, you will want to include FAQs directly on service pages so that customers that find your FAQs can easily scroll up to information about your services.

2. On Individual Service Pages

Including your FAQs on service pages enables you to get service specific about FAQs and provide helpful information to customers while also capturing their attention more effectively. For instance, say you have the landscaping company website below:

You could start by creating FAQs for your overarching service pages:

  • Residential Landscaping

  • Commercial Landscaping

  • Landscaping Supply

Once you create them for your overarching service pages, you can create them for your location pages (Cary, Raleigh, Morrisville, and Durham). Then as you have the ability, you can start to add them to your sub-service pages.

Eventually, you could have FAQs on each page of your website if you can come up with relevant questions customers might ask that you can provide the answer to in an FAQ.

2 Ways to Create FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) for Your Website

After you figure out how to determine what pages to include FAQs on, you are probably wondering how to come up with FAQs for these pages.

There are two main ways you can create FAQs.

1. Generate Ideas From Questions Customers Commonly Ask You

One of the quickest ways to come up with ideas for frequently asked questions is to start with your topic - in this example, HVAC Services. You will want to ask yourself “what do customers generally want to know about our HVAC services?”

Since you are creating this for an overarching page, the questions you come up with can span HVAC repair, installation, and maintenance.

If you get stuck, start trying to think about the questions your customers usually have around cost, timeframe, advice, frequency, and more, such as:

  • How much does an HVAC repair cost?

  • How much does HVAC replacement cost?

  • How quickly can I get my HVAC repaired?

  • How long does an HVAC repair take?

  • How long will an HVAC replacement take?

  • Can a homeowner replace their own freon?

  • How often should you have an HVAC maintained?

  • How long does an HVAC system typically last?

These are just a few of the questions customers might have about HVAC services, the list could go on and on.

Blue Trade Tip: When it comes to FAQs about cost, you do not have to put your exact pricing. Instead, you can provide ranges or averages and then qualify them with statements like “An HVAC repair can cost around $X - $X depending on the complexity of the repair and the parts required.”

2. Use Google “People Also Ask” To Think of FAQs

If you can’t think of questions off the top of your head, you can use Google to brainstorm FAQs too. To do this, take your topic (we will use HVAC Services again) and add something to it like “near me” or “in my area” and search it in Google.

Example of "People Also Ask" Questions on Google For the Query "HVAC Services near me"

Here are the types of questions that might pop up. If only one or two of the first few work for you, you can keep clicking on these and more related questions will appear. To get the best results, you should click on relevant questions.

In this instance, we clicked on “How long should an AC unit last” to get other specific questions like the ones in the screenshot below:

Example of "People Also Ask" Questions Expanded on Google For the Query "HVAC Services near me"

As you start to find questions that you think would be good to include and answer on your site, you can add them to a spreadsheet. That way, you can create a list of good potential questions and then rank them.

When ranking them, you would need to consider its relevance to the page you are thinking of including it on and whether or not you think potential customers would ask it.

Depending on the information you can find online and the questions you can come up with on your own, you can combine them if you get a few ideas from each.

Add FAQs To Your Contract Service Business Website To Increase Leads

To create effective FAQs, all you have to do is consider the questions your customers want the answers to and provide them with those answers.

To start out, we recommend creating FAQ sets for your overarching service pages and your location pages. In each of these sets, you should aim to have 3-5 question and answer sets.
