How To Write a Landscaping Service Area Page

When you first think about a landscaping service page, you may be thinking of a landscaping location page.

While these pages are in the same category, your service area page will be the one that links out to each of your location pages (we’ll show examples later in this blog).

Our clients have recognized great success with service area pages since they show your potential customers you service their area and it helps direct customers to more information about your services.

In this article we will go over what type of content a service area page includes and how to create one that helps funnel prospective customers to your location pages to get you more local leads.

What Information a Landscaping Service Area Page Usually Includes

A service area page is the page on your site customers can click if they are trying to determine if you service their area. Your landscaping service page should usually include the following:

  1. Paragraphs explaining the areas you service

  2. A static or dynamic map of your locations/ service areas

  3. A list of each of your service areas with links to their location pages

  4. (Optional) a video about your company and your services

The information you will include on this page will be straight to the point because the page you really want customers to navigate to is your location page for their city.

1. Paragraphs Explaining the Areas You Provide Landscaping Service

In the first few paragraphs of your landscaping service area page, you will want to describe the area you provide landscaping services broadly. If you offer service to a smaller service area radius, you may use a nickname for the area.

For instance, if you provide landscaping services near Morrisville, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, and Raleigh in North Carolina, you could say you “offer landscaping services in and around The Research Triangle” or “offer landscaping services in and around The Triangle,” a nickname for the area of Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill.

If you offer landscaping services in multiple parts of North Carolina like Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point, you could say you “provide landscaping services to residents in The Triad area.”

The key to choosing the correct way to describe your overall service area is to think about each of the cities you service and how you would describe the area that encompasses them. If you have a large spanning service area, this could be two large areas.

For instance, if you offer landscaping services in multiple areas of South Carolina, like Columbia and Charleston, you could say “We provide landscaping services for residents in and between The Capital City and The Lowcountry in South Carolina.”

After you summarize the areas you service, you can add additional information about what customers can expect when working with you. However, you should keep it to a high level and not go over 200 words.

If you would like to provide more context for your customers, you should put any further information at the bottom of the page. As a reminder, the main goal of this page is to lead customers to your specific location pages.

2. A Static or Dynamic Map of Your Locations/ Service Areas

For most landscaping companies creating their own website content, it might be easier to start with a static map on your service area page. If you plan to do this, you can use Google My Maps to create your unique service area.

To get to Google My Maps, you will need to go to regular Google Maps and then do the following:

  1. Click the menu in the top left

  2. Select “Your Places”

  3. Click the “Maps” tab

  4. Click “Open My Maps”

From there you can create a map of your service area and either take a screenshot of the map with the service area outlined, or if you want to go the more advanced route, you can grab an embed code of the map and add it to your website.

For more information about how to add a map to your website, read our blog “How To Create a Service Area Map For Your Contract Service Business Website.”

3. A List of Each of Your Service Areas With Links to Their Location Pages

You should create a title for this section with a heading that includes the state you primarily service, like:

  • “Landscaping Service Area in North Carolina”

  • “View Our NC Landscaping Customer Reviews by City”

  • “Click Your Area to Find Out More About NC Landscaping Services”

If your service areas are close to Charlotte, NC, your list of cities could look like:

  • Charlotte, NC

  • Matthews, NC

  • Concord, NC

  • Huntersville, NC

  • Mooresville, NC

  • China Grove, NC

  • Cornelius, NC

  • Locust, NC

  • Kannapolis, NC

You should create your list of locations based on the cities that you service or would be willing to service. If you want to service a certain city, but you haven't built up enough of a customer base there for it to be worth your while to travel out, you can start with a smaller list.

That way you could slowly build out your list to expand as you accumulate more customers closer to those areas. By waiting to create additional location pages in areas you don’t service yet, you could be preserving customer faith by not drawing in leads you can’t service yet.

4. (Optional) A Video About Your Company and Your Services

Some businesses will choose to create a video to potential customers about why they are passionate about serving the clients in that area and about the work that they will do for them.

If you choose to create a video like this, it should be well done and planned out, rather than a video done on the fly. This video will be some prospective customers’ first impression of your business.

To create a good video, you should be thinking about the following:

  • What customer pain points can you answer in this video?

  • Are there things your customers should know that they don’t?

  • What landscaping services do you offer that customers may be looking for?

  • What landscaping services do you offer that other landscapers in the area do not?

  • What makes your service or maintenance plans different from the rest?

Depending on what you come up with when answering these questions, you can evaluate what information you want to cover and in what order.

Create a Landscaping Service Area Page to Get Local Leads

By creating a service area page for your landscaping company website, you will be able to create a spot to direct customers to the location page that is most relevant to them.

Not only will this show customers that you provide landscaping services in their area, this will also allow them to go to a page (your location pages) that has information about each of the services you offer.
